Ram Nath Kovind was born on 1945 in Kanpur Dehat, UP. Ram Nath Kovind holds a bachelors degree in Commerce and LLB from DAV College affiliated by Kanpur university. He was central govt. advocate in the delhi high court from 1977 to 1979 and served as a central Govt. standing counsel in the supreme court from 1980 to 1993.
He joined BJP in 1991 and he became president of the BJP Dalit Morcha between 1998 and 2002 and president of all india Koli samaj. He was also became a Rajya Sabha MP from the state of Uttar Pradesh in April 1994. On 8 August 2015, the president of India appointed Kovind as a Governor Of Bihar.
Ram Nath Kovind elected as a India’s 14th President of India on Thursday 20-7-2017. He Defeated opposition Candidate and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Garnering More than 65% of votes in Electoral College, the returning officer for the Presidential election Anoop Mishra Announced.
71 year old Governor of Bihar who will be the second Dalit to hold the top Contitutional Position, recieved 2930 votes with value of 702044 and Ms Kumar managed 1844 votes with value of 367314, Mr. Mishra said. He will be the first BJP member to be elected as a president. He will take oath on 25th July.
